The European Tram Drivers Championships took place in Budapest over the weekend attracting drivers from 17 cities.
After a series of delicate tasks Frenchman Patrick Tribondeau more at home on the Paris metro came out winner: “The equipment is old and therefore you have to drive it differently and braking is difficult.”
Alberto Petra drives a tram in Florence: “At the beginning braking was much more difficult. Theres days its easier. It’s hard to judge where one stops.”
Out correspondent in Budapest says:” Driving a 40-ton tram is never easy, the championships are all about safety and skill.”
