One Direction's Louis makes soccer debut

One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson made his soccer debut during a charity match on Wednesday (February 26). The pop star traded packed-out music arenas for the Keepmoat Stadium to make his reserve team debut for the English second-tier side Doncaster Rovers, which drew 0-0 with Rotherhan United on the night.

"It's just been fascinating actually to really get a real insight into the football world and to be invited into that was, like I say, such an honour, I've really really enjoyed it you know and I can't thank the people at Donny enough for having me," said Tomlinson.

Fans, also known as 'Directioners', flocked from as far afield as Mexico to see him play. According to the BBC, nearly 5,000 tickets to watch the Rovers reserve team were sold before the match.
