You capture the luna moth
resting against the sliding glass door
of your condominium.
You carefully slide your thumb
over the wings:
the left, then the right.
Then you rub the luminous jade
dust over your eyelids:
the left, then the right.
Then you release him,
after which he alights again upon the glass door,
unaware of his loss
and of the vanity
of mankind.
