Our country’s standard waves on high.
A sign of pride and confidence,
the flag for which our brave men died.
Can be a cause of grave offence.
to other men in other lands.
Where we have no right to be.
Not every body understands
our brand of democracy.
Perhaps its time that we reviewed
our national foreign policy
and took a different attitude
You cannot force men to agree.
Other nations too, have their pride
as it is only right they should
We have no mandate to decide,
although our motives may be good.
We should respect their sovereignty
We have no right to interfere
in their affairs internally
The cost of meddling is too dear.
Why should our soldiers bear the cost
of politicians past mistakes.
It seems quite clear that we have lost.
The time has come to pull up stakes.
And leave their fate in their own hands.
Let them decide; its not our place.
Who they want to rule their lands
this is the truth we have to face.
