His old house was on a hill
little evidence left as proof
an old wheel
and some flowers standing aloof
the flowers survived them all
reaching out to space
growing thick and tall
in the same place
over the horizon came a new dawn
on the scape a new picture drawn
raindrops rays of light
what was there is now out of sight
not much left to prove
some lore and print
to the future we move
as those days went
once full of life and sound
things made with skill
now he's in the ground
laying there 'still'
