My phone sits frozen
The grimy screen black
The plastic like ice
My fingers twitch
The numbers feel curved
Under my nails
My bite my thumb
Blood spills onto my tongue
Tastes like oily rust
And salt
Tears lightly sprinkle
My cheeks tickle
My thumb still bleeds
I overreact often
My heart is tearing
Involuntarily and stupidly
‘I miss you’
Is too cliché and
An underestimation
My thumb continues to stink
My blood is poppy red,
Like a crying rose
I shove out the thoughts
The girl you might have
Who is with you
Maybe
Probably
Who knows;
I’m bleeding.
I need a band-aid
I need you.
Now
Here
Soon.
