Clothing grows a size too small
Labels that used to be so snug, hardly fit at all
Cravings for control aren’t easily satisfied
And guilt overwhelms with each bite
Easing the shame behind bathroom doors
Kneeling and coughing on the floor
A handful of pills made to melt the shame
Negative side effects abound, but I'm still the one to blame
With every skipped meal, feelings of power grow
I think I hide it so well, but you don't tell me that you know
I hate the way you plead with me, and tell me I look fine
I wish you'd just stop - I know the mirror doesn't lie
Hunger is slowly, carefully, fully replaced with pride
It always fall of deaf ears when you tell me I could die.
There's nothing to recover from, it's just a little diet
Don't you see it really works, now c'mon, it won't hurt - just try it.
