Once lived a red lighthouse,
to which I had the key,
that unlocked love's fortress,
that beacon by the sea.
But so soon, after spring,
She forgot little me.
In a time forgotten,
of seas soft, slight and calm,
my lover and I hid,
from society's harm,
in its source of safety,
together, arm and arm.
I'd climb its windy stairs,
with her upon my back,
and light a candle in,
the night of still, pure, black.
O, Why did the wind change?
and cause her heart to tack.
That yearned for lighthouse,
is now a foreign peak,
to which I've lost the charts.
My future now looks bleak,
since you changed that old lock,
and ceased to, my heart, speak.
