Knots in the timber
Once limbs of a tree
Sliced into planks
For both you and me
If knots could tell stories
When branches held nests
Where young birds could perch
Of the old owl who rests
Do you ever wonder?
If timbers could sleep
Or do they feel pain
Is this why some knots weep?
