Flashing lights and neon signs
Pollute the darkest night
By lighting up the cubby holes
Where shadows go to fight
Light robs them of their hiding
They shrink to smaller size
Please flick the switch and turn them off
Shadows think that’s wise
They don’t mind simple street lamps
Or moving car headlights
But please don’t put the big ones on
It spoils the shadow fights
