Surprise Me!

Todd M Davidson - Alone

I travel this path with all of my might.
By myself, I wont fear the night.
Come morning light I hope to see,
a joy of the day that pleases me.

I keep my life meager, this I do know.
I hold close no one, for I am alone.
Though to the passers, I do say hello.
Yet, that is as far as I'm able to go.

Some may not handle this life that I lead,
but I stand alone, even when I bleed.
Many have partners, that's what they do need.
My lost lover is only a dream.

I have a brother, a keeper of thoughts.
We grew up together, we learned to have not.
I was part of a family, though we had faught.
I do not miss them, I do not a lot.

In my memories, found will be pain.
Though I don't remember who was to blame.
I now have no need for profit and gain.
I'd rather be watching than joining the game.

I have a secret, you might be surprised,
but some days I'm tired and just want to die.
Upon my last page, a day I shall die,
who will come see me, how many will cry.

My brother says stop, you should not be ashamed.
But I will not hear him, I may not regain.
I am a rock, some days it's the pain.
I wish I could go back and do them again.

If I portray this pain on another,
it just is not right, I wish them to recover.
To put upon myself, why is it fine,
when it's unfair to others, they aren't devine.
