Pork cracklings in a rich green sauce,
With corn tortillas on the side.
The threat of cholesterol does give me pause,
But I know I am in heaven, I must have died.
A simple pleasure that I hold dear,
Mis chicharrones en salsa verde rule.
With a cold Corona, they have no peer,
More precious even than sparkling jewels.
A Jewish friend so envies me,
He says 'I do declare,
Maybe I could have a taste and see, '
So I growl at him just like a bear.
'Sorry Joe, I am temptation, yes I know,
But these cracklings aren't for you.
Have some Kosher beef, or some Irish stew,
I hear it goes good with a brew.'
But this culinary treat I crave,
Are on this table just for me.
And none of them do I plan to save,
For rainy days, much less for thee.
