Teeth pierce like little knives
Breaking through the
Tender, green skin
A whole new layer of tart
Sour and a tang of sweet.
The yellow fruit taunts me
Urging me to take a bite
I listen gracefully
And bite and bite and bite
The core waits like a devil
Glaring, smirking, and laughing
Ruining my good snack.
And staring blankly back.
