The kite soars high up in the air
The hot, sticky wind glued inside your lungs
The smell of fresh-cut grass addicting like Cuban cigars
Children playing outside windows flung wide
Summer days are dragging by
The sultry evening air is sweet
Our laughter in the steaming parking lot
The ambrosial scent of pot roast simmering in heat
If there is anything I’d rather do
It is wasting time with you
