The team celebrated late into the night their World Cup triumph but were bright and cheery as they boarded the team bus to head to Rio de Janeiro airport and fly back to Germany. Bastian Schweinsteiger was all smiles and Miroslav Klose made a thumbs up from the bus but, as ever, it was Lukas Podolski who won the charm offensive. Wearing a Flamengo shirt - Rio's most popular club - he shouted "Obrigado Brasil!" ("Thank you Brazil!") and send kisses to the cameras. A huge crowd gave the bus a very loud cheered as they drove away, marking the end of the 2014 Brazil World Cup for Rio de Janeiro.
