Penned and composed by Tagore at the age of 27, Aha aaji e basante is inspired from an Irish number-Maid of the Valley. The song first appeared in the famous play "Mayar Khela" by Rabindranath Tagore. To give a little background information, the number came up in the same year that Tagore's father Maharshi Devendranath established Shantiniketan (1888).
