Muslims from all over the world are gathering in the holy city of Mecca this week for the annual hajj. Some 1.4 million pilgrims from abroad are or will be arriving in Saudi Arabia to experience Islam's most famous holy sites and follow the 1,400-year-old traditions set by Islam's prophet, Mohammed. The hajj is the world's largest gathering of Muslims, culminating on October 4.
