More violent clashes in the streets of Mong Kok.

Just hours after police had cleared barricades and the crowd occupying the streets, the protesters returned, attempting to reclaim the intersection.

They've been occupying the city center for more than two weeks, demanding that China's Communist Party rulers live up to their old promises, and grant full democracy to Hong Kong.

But police say the protesters must leave.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS BRANCH, HUI CHUN-TAK, SAYING:

"Police will not tolerate further blockage of the reopened roads by the radical protesters. Should there be any acts of violence, police will take resolute actions."

But the protesters say they are standing firm. They say they won't back down until full democracy comes to Hong Kong.
