MOTHER EARTH

You trampled on me with your thorny shoes,
You made me go through various woes.
Your sheer carelessness deteriorated me,
Echoes of peace, fragrance of flowers, animals I can’t see.
I accepted you when you were traipsing,
Your iniquitous attitude set me blazing.
I cried, lamented and yelled,
But who heard me except the hell?
I enraptured you when you went through travail,
But you entangled me in a bar that availed no bail.
You finagled me and my possessions,
And led me to a way of destruction.
You compelled me to go through sword of Damocles,
Blood flowed on me like rills.
Don’t forget, I am your mother earth,
Shalom-be the new word I hear and not the hearth.
Don’t forget, I am your true shelter,
Turn swords into ploughshares.
I am the one you once festooned,
I am the one who has been doomed.
You grew flowers, trees and planted saplings,
But you are the one whop destroyed earthlings.
May god preclude you from this; I keep my crossed fingers,
You have created doom-laden happenings.
Don’t forget, I am your true earth,
Who nurtured you till maturity from earth.
You came to my lap when our kinsmen left you,
And I calmed you when you were enraged by your foe.
But your callousness has brought my doomsday,
Enrapturing and mesmerizing nature has lost her heydays.
