High society, city women with their husbands in suits and ties,
They all look at me and wonder, where my secret lies,
I tell them with a passion that only comes from deep within,
I wink and tell them softly, I tell them with a grin,
I have the heart of a country woman,
Full of integrity and grit,
I am a country woman,
Made from vinegar and spit,
Hardwork and country livin’, with honor and with pride,
I raised my eight children, with my husband by my side,
He owned the heart of this country woman,
Full of integrity and grit,
Yes, the heart of a country woman,
I’m made from vinegar and spit.
When challenges were upon me, I stubbornly pushed it all aside,
I am tough and I am proud, but with compassion I have cried,
Even though I have to leave you, keep this one sure thing in mind,
You come from honor and from beauty, found deep in this countryside.
I leave with you my secret; it’s something deep within you all,
It’s the love of a country woman, full of integrity and gall.
