Her ancient red soil clings to my feet
And her white chalk my lips
Her rivers flow gently
Bearing tales unknown to historians
Age-long moats remind us of warriors past
And the Bronze busts at Igun of her glory
The Igue with blazing scepters and beads
Tells of the city's splendor
Benin!
Preserver of primogeniture rights
I have dwelt long in this land
My tongue a convert
My seeds have into your ground entered
And brought forth harvests
Fit for the king's storehouse
But your statutes forbid that I be titled
Because my link is through a vagina
Descendant of Igodomigodo
Give me the royal beads
That I may enter the palace and
Kneel before the Omo N'Oba
