Long shadows cast upon stacked hay bales,
Fast moving clouds hug the cedar hills.
A pink orange glow as the sun sets low,
Autumn rain smells of earth tone mold.
Hot summer days surrender to cool autumn nights,
The trees abound with color with such delight.
Deep ruby reds transition to yellow and gold,
Brown leaves wash into catch basin holds.
The spiders get busy building their webs,
The sunburst forms rays of light ahead.
The dark ocean blue of Delphiniums,
Oregon Duck Football at Autzen Stadium.
The smell of wood burning in fireplaces,
Jack lanterns carved with angry faces.
Misty morning fog and bright afternoon sun,
Northwest autumn is in the heart of everyone.
