if i stand beside you,
look into your
darkened eyes,
i can almost see a world
gleaming from
within;
is it waiting? for
someone
more fortunate
than i, poor wanderer,
living apart from the starshine
of your eternal
winter night.
someday,
i may be worthy enough
to take the outstretched hand,
to believe in hope again,
and allow myself
to be led into
the dark.
