Uncompromisingly brilliant pictures
are companions caught in memory,
delicious together in harmony,
softened sepias and gentle pastels.
Goodbye, September photographs
of an afternoon far, far away.
You're just a stranger, barely remembered,
a photograph curling in a forgotten drawer.
This is a commentary on all photographs, left forgotten in drawers and boxes, bureaus and photography books, no longer having names, but pictures of people who lived and laughed, who now rest, forgotten, except for that face that looks back at me.
