he'd hooked his last
perch, pickerel and bass
pike and the like
never more, that sudden strike
never again will his body feel
the tug of the pole, the whirl of the reel
lowered down, in a way he's found
a new, uncharted fishing ground
where the worms anxiously await
their final revenge - and he's the bait
