Lavishing stars with alacrity,
Night takes command of both earth and sea:
Violet, black, and indigo blues,
The sky embraces a host of hues.
And safe inside my bed, my bower,
I fall deep into dreams, hour upon hour...
...of bravehearted men and their mighty deeds,
Of women their equal, except where I please.
And all of the men is that One I desire,
While every woman shares my face and my fire
Oft times he rescues me or I him,
Despite peril fearsome and oh so grim,
From crazed scientists or aliens in pods
And rampaging beasts or sincere but dumb clods
Depending upon circumstance (always dire) ,
He'll wear flapping loincloth or armored attire;
I don sweet princess gown or sprayed-on clothing
(Tho' the best dreams are when we both wear no thing)
Yet the dreams I love most are those when we meet
alone, unacquainted, on dimly lit street:
I with my loss, my lack, my goodness... myself;
he with rare humanity and inner elf
; ]
From there, we go on... and on... and on...
So, come down, sweet Night, bless this world with a kiss!
Let Your embrace beget wondrous dreams of Bliss...
