before now the tide carried me far
from your soft laden words
from your wide wounded eyes
across the blue, into horizon
------------
where the lemon coated sun
oozes decadent raindrops and giddy
strom gray clouds hold hands with
brooding lightning and the reed thin grass
hums lacksidaisically to the peppermint breeze,
and the trees bend and sway in time
always theres
time
til the waves sweep in
pulling me away
-------------
today as i pen this sandy thought
the beach does not beckon
as it once did
nor the water so grateful to tow me
-------------
horizon, though thinner than most,
is a destination, but to some
it's an escape
if you can, look out far
and shield your eyes from the
lemon rays and wipe away the
slippery drops, if you don't mind the
skipping lightning or scuddling clouds,
and forget the melody of the reeds Don't linger
in the minty wind and please hasten past the tender trees and tell time to wait
for horizon
oh the endless skyline
is here
