Are you scared of the dirt and the grit,
diseases and grime from the pit,
I might bring to your shop with my feet?
Or do you think my bare feet in your store
are a sign that I'm stupid, or even worse, poor?
Is that why you've nailed that dumb sign to the door?
Did you think when you bought it, or
did you just put it up because everyone else
has it too, so you felt
that the sign was a sign of your cultural awareness
not knowing the sign would extinguish your fairness.
