Surprise Me!

Frederick Francis - My World

It was just the other day while wandering the street
A most peculiar salesman I did happen to meet.
His shoulders were square and his smile bright.
A well pressed stripe suit and a grip that was tight.
“I’ve got something you’ll want” he said with lips curled.
“Today I’m prepared to offer you the world.”
When he saw my face he knew I wasn’t his buyer.
It was clear I was not in search of a supplier.
I said “thanks, but I already have what you sell.”
Now and forever I am under her spell.

She smells the way a dream can feel;
That momentary tingle where you question what’s real.
She curves like the smile that crosses my face.
Only two feet away but still closer I race.
Her hair is like silk that gods would wear
A perfect soft brown with no tatter or tear.
A touch that’s so soft it would stay any furry.
And a smile so warm it melts away all my worry.
Emeralds for eyes that re-define green.
You don’t comprehend beauty until these eyes you’ve seen.
Her laughter could bring tears to your eyes.
But it rains in my world if every she cries.
She is crisp fall air, or a cool ocean breeze.
And everything imaginable that could dropp me to a knee.
So I say thank you sir, but save your sales line.
I promise you that the world is already mine.
