Surprise Me!

Mikael Ejdemyr - in memory of a grand other

Wheelchair pushed by graveyard birds along
baby graves in the grass centuries
are chasing each other like the
zoo's sea lions your name not
engraved on stone yet fallen chick
in graveyard grass who are living
in your heart? who are living
in your dream? no waffles baked
no coffee sold at the graveyard

Bride asleep in the Chapel of Hope old infant
head on the pillow Bach is speaking thoughtfully he
moves his lips silently with quiet eyes your coffin
adorned with summer flowers Wednesday afternoon
fundamental things never
unique cantor glancing at his watch the skin sore
after the meeting were we here? but still gone?
smoke from the Chapel's nearby chimney matriarch the worn
blue sun of the ceremony's master is rolling by

Foot trembling with excitement where are
everyone that didn't came into being?
urn with ashes is finally to be set young
naked men are serving the word dressed in black
had you rather been someone else? a poem other
than that which is being read?
urn to embrace gray urn black
hard braided thin rope of hair
lowering the urn into the hole
