WEB USERS REACT TO THE DEATH OF PETER KASSIG
Web users the world over have been reacting to the apparent killing of US hostage Peter Kassig, abducted in Syria in October 2013. The Islamic State terrorist organization has released a video purporting to show the aid worker`s severed head, generating widespread and strong reaction on social networks.
Many have shared their horror and outrage, passing on their condolences to the 26 year old aid worker`s family and friends. The Twitter tributes are growing, with posts saying Peter Kassig was a true hero, killed as he was trying to help the people of Syria. Social networkers are slamming the barbaric murder, and are reaching out to world leaders to do everything in their power to find the killers and bring them to justice. 33
And as has been the case with previous execution videos released by IS, web users are urged not to share the footage showing Peter Kassig`s beheading, as this is exactly what his killers want. The appeal has been widely relayed online where many have paid their respects by sharing photos of him on his various humanitarian missions.
ALGERIA LAUNCHES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AGAINST VIOLENCE
The Algerian government launched an awareness campaign against physical and verbal violence at the beginning of November. It will run throughout the year and has generated lively commentary from web users across the country.
