The County Fire Authority in Victoria issued an emergency warning to residents of Hastings on January 3, saying it was no longer safe to leave their homes as an out-of-control grassfire moved towards the area. Official also said that even though the bushfire threat to the town had eased, they warned residents to remain vigilant as weather conditions remained unpredictable.
