Netflix has taken another bold step in providing their users with even more original content. Now jumping head first into the feature film business, the streaming company has released the first trailer for their upcoming African civil war drama "Beasts of No Nation," starring acclaimed British actor Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Pacific Rim).
The drama, which is Netflix's first movie acquisition since announcing their plans to distribute original films, is based on the acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala and tells the unflinching and fictional story of a young innocent African boy (newcomer Abraham Attah) who is forced to serve as a child soldier for a brutal guerrilla leader (Elba) and fight in a soul-crushing civil war.
Already tipped as a potential awards contender, the movie was adapted and directed by Cary Fukunaga, who just won an Emmy trophy for directing the first season of HBO's "True Detective."
"Beasts of No Nation" will be released on Netflix on October 16th. It will also have a limited theatrical run starting on that same date.
