There is no fear and shame to ask for a professional help!
It is not shameful or frightening to ask for a professional help to discuss and find a solution for every family problem – says the psychologist Jana Zengovska of the First Children’s Embassy in the World MEGJASHI for FAKTOR.
They face with children and young people who directly feel and see the family disputes every day, but in many cases, as she says, the solutions lie in the conversation and professional treatment as a key factor in prevention the problem. According to her the assistance will not be given only to one who does not want to ask for it, and when we talk about the consequences rather than the prevention it is often too late.
"In this case the child is the victim so that the mother could attract the attention that probably she needed at the time, and when she realized what was happening she wanted to commit a suicide. We cannot be certain what was behind this event, but if she showed such or similar reactions before, someone should have reported them in time so that she could have had an appropriate treatment," says the psychologist Jana Zengovska of the First Children’s Embassy in the World MEGJASHI.
According to her it is necessary to speak openly about the importance of the mental health and society has to be supportive when it comes to this topic. Here, says Zengovska, we speak about the problems when they have culminated and usually it is too late to take preventive measures, but we work on finding the causes and consequences, which are very painful especially for children.
"It is important that citizens are informed adequately what mental health is and where they can turn if they have a problem. When they are informed perhaps without fear and shame they will visit a psychologist, psychiatrist or psychotherapist. All of us in certain life periods have faced with some challenges that caused traumas, uncertainties or even they have become a big problem. The visit of an expert is important for prevention. The father of the little child in this moment would be the most important when it comes to child and family, guided by the fact that we still do not know the condition of the mother. An adequate professional assistance should be provided primarily for the child to overcome the trauma more easily. But also the father needs help and support in order to properly act in this situation to strengthen his personal and parenting capacity. All this would constitute a long-term process that involves systemic approach "-adds the psychologist Zengovska.
