The Legend, Aslam Azhar was one of the founding fathers of PTV. When the medium came to Pakistan in 1964, he spearheaded its evolution.
Azhar did his Bachelors from Government College University, Lahore. He for a brief period after completing his Masters from Cambridge University in 1954 served with Burma Oil Company. A man of many talents who soon realized his muse lay elsewhere.
Aslam Azhar, having experience of #theater and #broadcasting, was asked on November 26, 1964, to run a three-month pilot project at the lawns of Radio Pakistan, Lahore. The project was a success due to the untiring efforts of Azhar and his team.
He very quickly brought together a first class team of designers, cameramen, writers and artists and established stations at Karachi, Lahore and Quetta, bringing quality programming and latest equipment.
In recognition for his services, the government conferred upon him Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 1968.
