A little over a month ago, my old friend Brandon Devers tragically passed away. When I heard the news, I was floored. We'd known each other since middle school, and he was one of the few people I could talk about Final Fantasy with, let alone other video games, anime, card games, etc. We went our separate ways when he left for college, and for seven years he struggled with mental illnesses that weren't properly diagnosed until it was too late. When we all got together to honor his memory and talk about the better times, I kept thinking to myself, what could we have done to prevent this? What could we have done to really get him the help he needed? The list goes on, but while we still discuss it among ourselves, I thought to post this video as a tribute to my friend. What we lacked in knowledge then might help another group of friends avoid this tragedy. I showed this to one of our closest mutual friends, and he agreed that the mix of Final Fantasy and Hard Rock was a fitting tribute for our fallen friend. Rest In Peace, Brandon. I hope the message at the end of this video will reach someone who's struggling with the same issues he was, and serve as the catalyst in turning the tide for the better.
