Impressive footage has emerged from India of 5,211 dancers - aged between 4-72 - setting a new world record in front of a cheering crowd of more than 55,000.

Choreographer Jitha Binoy led the successful attempt at the record for largest Kaikottikali dance, performed as part of the Thanima Arts Festival in Irinjalakuda in the south Indian state of Kerala in January.

The Kaikottikali is one of the most popular South Indian dance forms.

It is performed exclusively by women, particularly during the Malayalam festival of Onam.
