Smart Desk? Touchscreen Table? Actually…it’s sort of both!Carnegie Mellon researchers have developed a smart projector which projects a digital interface on pretty much any desk or desk-like surface you might come across.
To realize their project, the developers took into account how cluttered the average desk is and adjusts the size of the projection. The projector can also differentiate between a desk item and the user’s hand and even connect to an object and follow it around the desk.
The screen can also be repositioned or resized, and if an item gets in the way, it simply moves to an empty space.
Unfortunately, this desk concept remains years away from deployment — but it does show how Hollywood magic could become reality in your home in the future.
