Should supermarkets be open on the Jewish sabbath?

I think Shabbat is a huge contribution of Jewish history, culture and religion to humanity, and it should be kept. But it should be kept in a way that goes with modernity. Menachem begin said let me be Jewish and light the lights in Shabbat as well.
