A massive avalanche swept near Runang village in Kinnaur nestled in Indian Himalayas on January 25.
The avalanche brought down electricity poles and trees but missed the village by half a mile.
A few village men had gathered at a higher point after hearing rumbling at a distant mountain.
Shiv Negi, a resident of nearby Kinnaur, said the area had not witnessed an avalanche since 2013.
