1. Nirmalya is referred to the leftover that contains stale flowers and other remains, which were offered to the deity earlier.
2. The flowers left at a sacrificial ceremony and the handling which was worn the day before, are also called Nirmalya.
3. These articles are considered unfit and not worthy to be re-offered to the temple idol.
4. The Nirmalya contains, stained or unfit articles, stale flowers and garlands, fruits and other food articles, damaged Murtis (deities) and images, and so on.
5. It is mandatory to collect this previous day garb and later immersed in the water bodies instead of disposing it.
6. In many temples after the Maha-Aarti, Nirmalya- Darshan is arranged for the devotees where the adornments are removed from the deity.
7. In these temples, it is believed that the Devas (Hindu Gods) visit the temple to worship the deity after the night Pooja is concluded and the temple doors are closed.
