Union minister Farooq Abdullah has angered political parties in Jammu and Kashmir by reportedly describing the people of the state as "mahachors (biggest thieves)" of electricity.
The state opposition today shouted slogans in the assembly and demanded an apology from Mr Abdullah, leader of the ruling National Conference and father of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The senior Mr Abdullah reportedly made the controversial remarks in Delhi on Sunday, while commenting on the poor state of energy in Jammu and Kashmir.
