Ahead of the foreign secretary-level talks, India and Pakistan find themselves tangled in another round of bitterness with Islamabad on Wednesday describing PM Narendra Modi's remarks that Pakistan was waging a proxy war of terrorism on India as baseless rhetoric and unfortunate.
The government responded by saying that Modi was only articulating India's core concern in relations with Pakistan and warned Islamabad that India's "tool kit" for dealing with the issue of terrorism was not restricted.
