The Philippines recorded 270 recoveries on Thursday, the highest in a single day, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
The new recoveries brought the country’s tally on recoveries to 5,165, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a press briefing. The previous record was 159 recovered patients, which was reported last June 10.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases in the country rose to 24,175, after 443 new infections were announced.
Of the new cases, 253 were classified as “fresh cases,” while the other 190 were referred to as “late cases.”
Moreover, nine more patients succumbed to COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 1,036.
