🙏 While covering the Kumbh Mela, saw around 400 sadhus offering their bodies to the goddess of fire before the Kumbha bath.
They took a video on this occasion. The BBC camera crew had to move far away from the flames due to the intense heat generated by the burning wood.
Nothing happened to the saints lying on the pyres and they were shocked.
*They also tested their clothes for the presence of fire retardant chemicals, but failed to find them. The saints were completely engrossed in chanting*.
These sadhus are called *siddha sadhus*.
