A 2cm wooden splinter embedded in Billie J Bedser’s foot went undetected for five years, causing seizures, memory loss and fatigue.
The 32-year-old DJ from Australia stepped on the stick during lockdown in 2020, but X-rays missed the splinter.
Dismissed by doctors and misdiagnosed, Billie’s condition worsened until a CT scan in 2024 revealed the cause—along with a fungal bone infection.
She’s now recovering and urging others to trust their instincts: “I lost five years because no one listened. But I finally know it was real.”
