Abdelmadjid Tebboune a reçu le chef de la diplomatie iranienne Abbas Araghtchi au Palais d'El Mouradia, le 8 avril, 60 jours avant le début de la guerre entre Israël et l'Iran. En retour, Abbas Araghtchi a invité le chef de l’État algérien pour une visite officielle en Iran. Le voyage, compromis par la guerre, témoigne des bonnes relations algéro-iraniennes. La diplomatie algérienne a vite condamné l'offensive israélienne contre l'Iran en évoquant une « agression (qui) n'aurait pas été possible sans l'impunité dont jouit l'agresseur », vendredi 13 juin.
