The US Justice Department has released transcripts of interviews conducted with Jeffrey Epstein’s imprisoned former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell. It comes as the Trump administration scrambles to present itself as transparent, amid a fierce backlash over an earlier refusal to disclose a trove of records from the sex-trafficking case. Maxwell told a top justice department official that she never saw President Donald Trump in an "inappropriate setting" and was not aware of any client list belonging to Epstein. Mr Trump knew Epstein socially in the nineties and early 2000s. Cory Alpert is a US political expert.
