There is a lot of coverage on the American strike on an alleged drug vessel from Venezuela. The Washington Post calls it a dramatic escalation in the Trump administration's feud with Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. The Wall Street Journal has a still from the footage of the strike. In Venezuela meanwhile, the Venezuelan broadcaster Tele Sur is covering President Maduro's reaction, who called it an "imperial plot". The Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional has an opinion piece which argues that there is clear evidence that Maduro is at the head of a narco-terrorist cartel. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reports that Trump's deployment of military troops to Los Angeles has been deemed illegal. California Governor Gavin Newsom took to social media to taunt the president, and posted "Donald Trump loses again". Newsom's Trump opposition tactics are getting quite a lot of coverage, including in France. Le Monde sums them up in their headline: "Newsom trolls, shouts louder and doubles down on the bragging". All eyes were on China for the massive military parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II.
