One of the last surviving personnel who served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS/Wrens), Mabel Kidney, is celebrating her 100th birthday. At 17, she served as a Stewardess for three years during WWII.
As a birthday surprise, she is being presented with her war medal which she never applied for. Her daughter Jilly applied for it in secret on her mum's behalf. It will be presented by Commodore Jo Adey.
